The Beginning

In 1956, Bill Carey began the journey of construction doing much of the work himself. Helping customers with everything from concrete work, masonry and even rough carpentry, Bill wanted to be able to provide everything for his customers.

Changing World

In 1979, the construction business was changing. Bill invited Rick Creech in to help lead new efforts at Carey and take ownership at his retirement. During this time, the business moved into a more specialized arena.

Specialized Work

No longer trying to master each area, W J Carey became more focused in pure construction while hiring qualified

subs in masonry, concrete and other individualized specialties. This change allowed the company to become

a stronger competitor in the marketplace and meet theever changing demands of their customers.

A New Leader

In 1980, Rick became sole owner. The company now nearing its third decade had grown in the number of employees, projects and relationships in the market. The philosophies of meeting client expectations and ensuring repeat business had carried on with Rick.

Challenging Times

Throughout the 80’s and 90’s the construction industry was highly competitive. As the economy slowed, business was less abundant. Rick maintained the philosophy that you have to continue to establish your reputation with clients in order to get repeat business. Ultimately, the fulfillment of that belief is what carried them through

the challenging times and enabled consistent growth.

A New Partner

In 2001, Troy Wilcoxson joined W J Carey as Vice President. Bringing his management expertise to the company, he has developed relationships and a strong reputation of his own. His commitment to Value Engineering has solidified his position as a true partner to his clients.

Looking Ahead

Into the fifth decade, a steady growth has led way to diverse experience in the industry and a desire to reach out into new markets. Along with Troy, a new addition in Zach Kessie, takes W J Carey into new territories.

Forward Momentum

Being able to embrace an ever changing industry, W J Carey recognizes the need to be flexible and to be problem solvers. Zach joined the company with expertise in creating conceptual budgets and site planning. His attention to detail on every project gives his customers peace of mind when he is at the lead.

The Next Decade

Another evolution has occurred at the helm of the company. After Rick’s retirement, Troy will take the lead with his dedication to cost effective solutions, smart business practices and sound leadership. His fortitude provides customers with confidence and trust in W J Carey and can provide you with the right fit for your next project.

W J Carey Construction was founded in 1956 when business was still closed

with a handshake. Without computers, formal contracts or bid wars, jobs were secured based solely on a solid reputation.

Now, more than 50 years

later, our reputation still precedes us in every job we bid.

Whether it is a university project, a manufacturing

plant or historical renovation, our clients choose Carey because of our stellar reputation.

The process to close

business may be a bit different today than 50 years ago, but our dedication to customer approval has never been

more evident.
